Animals that change color in the winter change white or whatever color is because of the texture of there skin and the coldness of the air. Usually you would see these types of animals in the winter and when the ground turns white or a light snow color. There are some animals that change color and have to adapt to being that color. For example , an Arctic Fox changes in the winter and then changes back in the summer because of the texture of there skin and the cold air,but when you are a baby Arctic Fox you have to get adapted to the different color fur because you have to hide in different places, and you can hunt for different things.
Animals can also change color by An acid in there food called tyrosine or the animal that they ate called tyrosine which causes the skin or fur to change to a reddish color. this can hurt or effect the animal because they could stick out in the wild and could get eaten or be put in danger. For example, black cats usually change color because of there food or because of something they ate. I think this would affect a black cat in a good way because when it's dark out they usually Rome around the neighborhood and cars could hit them but if they turned a little bit red cars could probably see them better and not run over them.
